Anthrpomorphism

Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human characteristics to non-human creatures and beings, phenomena, material states and objects or abstract concepts.

 

The Gaia theory began with highly anthropomorphic language, but the terminology is evolving towards holism: “the series of interacting ecosystems that compose a single huge ecosystem at the Earth's surface.” (ref)
