Questions:[1] I have read the web site that I said I would ,and it was very nice to read some good and loving verses from the
Quraan. A lot of these verses are simular to Christianity. There is one particular that I would like to ask you about. I think that it is XXXV:15 "Did ye then think that We had created you in jest, and that ye would not be bought back to us for (account?)" QSXX111:115 Are these Gods words that are spoken ? It sounds like it. Why did God refer to Himself as We? God refers to Himself as US in the Bible. Genesis 1:26 Then God said," Let us make man in our image,
in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." We Christians believe that the US is The Father, The Son, (Jesus ) and The Holy Spirit. If you don't mind me asking Why is this verse talking about God as more than one person? Who do the Muslems say that God was talking to? Now I doubt that Mohammod had tea with the queen and the Quaran was not writen in
English. So it can't be an expression of speech nor a fault in the translation. Answer: Dear Simon/Pauline:
My understanding is that this is the nature of the Arabic language. I would need to ask an Arab or Jew about this. As the Bible has the same/similar language origins (Jesus spoke Aramaic), the explanation will be the same. For a detailed explanation, see: http://www.islam101.com/tauheed/AllahWE.htm
Also note that the Quran has a verse commanding, "Don't say Trinity". The Quraan tells us the Trinity is an error.
Amazingly, Christian scholars have found this to be true. The oldest Biblical scriptures do not have any mention of the Trinity. Jesus did not preach the Trinity (as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost). (see http://www.islam.org.au/articles/20/trinity.htm). see also: http://www.innvista.com/scriptures/compare/trinity.htm It looks at many Bibles approach to the problem - Your Bibles and your scholars! Also refer to http://www.ynca.com/Mini%20Studies/truth_about_the_trinity.htm
The Trinity, too has changed. See http://www.yrm.org/trinity-fact-fiction.htm
for an excellent review.
Thomas Hobbes (http://www.orst.edu/instruct/phl302/texts/hobbes/leviathan-contents.html) had a different understanding of the Trinity. Hobbes says:
" For so God the Father, as represented by Moses, is one person; and as represented by His Son (Jesus), another person; and as represented by the Apostles, and by the doctors that taught by authority from
them derived, is a third person; and yet every person here is the person of one and the same God. "(http://www.orst.edu/instruct/phl302/texts/hobbes/leviathan-i.html)
This is a very different interpretation of the Trinity to what is believed today.
In summary then, what the Trinity means to Christians has evolved and changed. The Trinity, as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, is not in the
oldest recorded Christian Scriptures! As such the Trinity is a falsehood - and so is anything done "In the Name of the Father and the Son and The Holy Ghost", for ALL intentions should be in the Name of the Creator God.
The BIG difference between the Muslim and both Christians and Jews is that:
Some Jews rejected Jesus (MPBUH) - so the religion became 2. Some Jews and Christians rejected Muhammad (SAW) - so the religion became 3.
We Muslims accept Jesus and await his return and accept all the Prophets including Jesus and Moses.
Regards,
Laurence.
